Staff Selection Commission, Eastern Region:
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) was established in 1977. The mandate of their commission is to conduct examinations. It makes recruitment in Group C & Group B, Non Gazetted posts in Minister and Departments of Government of India. The Commission has its Headquarters in New Delhi. There are 9 Regional Offices / Sub Regional Offices of the Commission to assist in the conduct of Examinations. The Eastern Regional office of the commission is located in Kolkata and has territorial jurisdiction over West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Sikkim and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Selection Procedure:

The Government has dispensed with Interviews for Junior Level Posts, accordingly, recruitment to Selection Posts will be through OMR / Computer Based Objective Type Multiple Choice Examination.
Candidates will be shortlisted for OMR / Computer Based Examination based on the percentage of marks in Essential Qualification as indicate by them in their application. Candidates will be shortlisted in the ratio 1:25. Candidates will be shortlisted by applying suitable cut off in the percentage of marks, in multiples of Five. The number of candidates shortlisted may be slightly more or less due to the criteria of applying cut off in multiples of five.
For the purpose of shortlisting of candidate for OMR / Computer Based Examination, the Commission will follow the yardstick adopted by the University / Institution and take into account the percentage of marks as indicate in the Final Year marks Statement.
The Criteria followed by the Commission in shortlisting candidates will be final. No appeal or Representation will be entertain against such shortlisting criteria.
The information furnished by the candidates in their applications will be verified by the Commission with reference to the Original document after the OMR / Computer based Examination. During verification of documents , if it is found that any information furnished by the candidate in the application is wrong, his / her candidature will be rejected forthwith. No appeal or Representative against such rejection of candidates will be entertained. The candidates should ensure that they have furnished correct information in the application form.

Scheme and Syllabus for SSCER Examination:
For Posts with Matriculation (10th) as EQ, the Examination will have 150 Question (Total 150 Marks) carrying one mark Each, on the four components given below-
General Intelligence & Reasoning - 25 Question
Numerical Aptitude - 25 Questions.
General English - 50 Questions.
General Awareness - 50 Question.

For posts with Higher Secondary as the EQ, Examination will have 200 Questions carrying one mark each as indicated below-
General Intelligence - 50 Questions.
Quantitative Aptitude - 50 Questions.
English Language - 50 Questions.
General Awareness -  50 Question.

For Posts with Graduation in any subject & Graduate / Post Graduate Degree (with Specialization in any subject) as the EQ, the Examination will have 200 questions, each carrying one mark, on the following subject-
General Intelligence & Reasoning - 50 Questions.
General Awareness - 50 Questions.
Quantitative Aptitude - 50 Questions.
English Comprehension - 50 Questions.

Important Announcement about Examination:
There will be Negative marking of .25 for each Wrong Answer.
Skill Test like Typing / Data Entry / Computer Proficiency Test etc, where prescribed in the essential qualification, will be conducted, which will be of a qualifying nature.
Final merit list will be drawn on the basic of performance in OMR / Computer Based Examination.
