Age Limit:
The applicant must not be less than 18 years old and must not be more than 27 years old as on 1st January 2018.
The upper age limit shall be relaxed by 5 years for the candidates belonging to the categories of Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribes (ST) and by 3 years for the candidates belonging to the category of Other Backward Classes (OBC).
The NVF and Home Guards personnel serving in West Bengal Police are also eligible for relaxation of upper age limit as per existing Government order.

Educational Qualifications:
The applicant must have passed Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
The applicant must be able to speak, read and write in Bengali language. However, this provision will not be applicable to the persons who are permanent residents of hill sub divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.

Minimum Physical Standard:
Candidates of all categories (Except Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes) - Height 167 cm, Weight 57 Kg & Chest 78 cms (without expansion) and 83 cm (with expansion).
Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes - Height 160 cm, Weight 53 cm & Chest 76 cms (without expansion) and 81 cms (with expansion).

Pay Scale:
Constables in West Bengal Police in the Pay Scale of Rs.5400 - 25200 (Pay Band 2) plus Grade Pay of Rs.2600.

Method of Recruitment:
i. Preliminary Written Test (100 Marks) - Applicants provisionally considered eligible will have to appear in an MCQ based Preliminary written test which is qualifying in nature. There would be 100 objective type questions having multiple choice (four choices) of answers carrying equal marks each. The duration of this tests will be 1 (one) hour. Question paper will be set in two languages (Bengali & Nepali). Questions of the Preliminary Written Exam shall be from the following subjects -
General Awareness and General Knowledge - 50 Marks.
Elementary Mathematics - 30 Marks.
Reasoning - 20 Marks.
There will be negative marking for each wrong answers. 0.25 marks for a particular question will be deducted for each wrong answer. West Bengal Police Recruitment Board will decides the prescribed schemes and syllabus for the Preliminary Written Exam. The qualifying marks in Preliminary Written Test to appear for the next stage will be fixed by the WBPRB. The marks obtained by a candidate in the preliminary written test will not be considered for preparing final merit list.
ii. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) - The physical standards (height, Chest and weight) of the candidate will measured using Electronic Machine.
iii. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) - Candidates who will qualify in PMT will be allowed to take part in PET which consist of 1600 meter Run within 6 (six minutes 30 (thirty) seconds..
iv. Final Written Examination - All the candidate who qualify in the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Endurance Test (PET) will be called to appear in the Final Written Examination to be conducted by the WBPRB.
The Final Written Examination will have 85 Multiple Choice (Four Choice) Objective Type Questions (MCQ) carrying equal mark each. The duration of the examination will be 1 hour. Question paper will be set in two language (Bengali & Nepali) except questions on English language. Question of the Final Written Examination shall be from the following subjects -
General Awareness and General Knowledge - 25 marks.
English - 25 marks.
Elementary Mathematics (Madhamik Standard) - 20 marks.
Reasoning and Logical Analysis - 15 marks.
There will be Negative marking for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted.
v. Interview (15 marks) - A limited number of candidates will be called for Interview in accordance with merit. In the Interview, the general awareness and suitability of the candidate for public service will be tested. On the basic of marks obtained in the Final Written examination and Interview, a merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will be prepared by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.

Rs.150 Application Fee and Rs.20 Processing fee for All category candidates except SC / ST of West Bengal.
Only Rs.20 Processing Fee for SC / ST category candidates of West Bengal.
